My father was career military. Thus we had to move almost every year. Towards the end my mother proclaimed she could no longer do it; she was literally in tears at the thought of going through another moving hell. We sent her on a vacation and did it ourselves. You forgot to mention the thievery that always accompanies a move. I had inherited an antique doll from my grandmother. These theives stole it. Probably didn't even realize the value or sentimental value at least of the doll. I made the statement recently that I will never move. I will die in this house before I will go through another move. It's torture I tell ya, toture!

I would have kicked those horrid movers in the FACE if I were you, witty! I bow before your self-control. Also, remember -- my offer still stands. Good luck, dahling!

Oy, I get all nervous and angsty just reading about your move. I detest moving; good luck, hopefully they'll do a better job.

I retired from the Air Force a few years ago and my husband retired four years later. LOTS of moves. Since you aren't moving too far, I'd advise you to take your most precious things in the car ahead of time, in fact, take everything you can and let the dorks do the heavy stuff. I'm sure this isn't news to you but it really is worth it if you can at all manage.
