We did this experiment in college (I think it was Interpersonal Communications class) wherein you had to keep track of how many times you were actually (physically) touched by another person throughout the day. It was amazing how low the numbers were - 0,1,maybe 2 if you were lucky. It even included mundane touch so as a cashier giving you your change at the store. Shockingly low. Touch Deprivation. I read a study about babies in orphanages. Those that lived in crowded nurseries and didn't het help would not thrive and were sickly. When held and cuddled on a regular basis, they got better. So here is my hug! And it is one of those where you pull away first.

I'm not much of a hugger - but I am coming around a bit. I'd rather give them than receive them. Is that weird?

Hug-deprivation stinks! That's why tango is so totally awesome. Especially the real, Argentinian, close-embrace tango.... Oh, it's helped in the past month before I got my courage up and asked That Guy out. (Goodness, I have to come up with a clever nickname for him. Hmmm.) Ahem. Don't let the hugging stop with the holidays--and I virtually hug you! **X

Hugs are good. Hugs are nice. As long as they are from someone you want to hug. Go for it!
