A stress test is the difinitive test for ischemia (dead heart muscle from a heart attack) along with the blood test they did, so if that was negative you definitely did not have a heart attack, so don't worry, my dear! Other options are a weird panic attack (the holidays just finished), autonomic nerve dysfunction (a fun way of saying your adrenaline let loose and you had a fight or flight episode), costochondritis (sternum pain, or inflammation) and pleurissy (a cold that inflames the lining between your lungs and chest, although you'd have some shortness of breath with that). Basically, I'm sure you're going to be fine. Although, seeing a cardiologist wouldn't be a bad thing as you have a history of cardiac conditions in your family. This is Dr. KFK signing off. ((hugs)) ((soup)) ((mexican food))

Hey, maybe the cardiologist will be a really bangin' hot man and the appointment will be fun, just from that perspective alonem however, if that were the case, your heart might race a bit, but then you might be spending more time with him and that might be fun, too. Good luck.

I agree with KFK. It could have just been anxiety. I really DID have a serious heart issue when I was 24, and for months I had these anxiety attacks in my sleep where I would wake up thinking I was having a heart attack (fun!). I think if you're really that worried (and, with a family history, you should make sure), maybe you should get a second opinion. THough, I've found Mexican food pretty much cures everything. The medicinal values of guacamole and chimichangas are miraculous. :)

Wow, that sentence gave ME chest pains. And I agree with KFK and Andria, better safe than sorry.
