I hate shopping too. Very much. And it's also been my desire to be flat-chested so I can live my life without the frustration, pinching and pain of a bra.

I made the same big mistake again! Reading you while drinking coffee! Damn! Hand me some more towels, please!

Ha! My coffee is still in the micro(don't hate me, its just...I'm lazy on Saturday....)or I'd have spit too. Bras are the devil's handiwork, I swear. Occasionally I find one I like, but it usually goes like: a) Can't find another b)Find another but its not the same (even if in appearance - color too - its identical) c) Can't afford another for awhile, and a) rears its ugly head. But YAY for you on the modeling. I hope it goes well, and you have fun.

I have a gazillion bras - all colours, all different boob configurations (squish-em-in, lift-em-up, make-em-joggly etc). Not a single one of em is comfortable. Todays is a half-cup balconette black and red lace affair. It feels like a straight jacket. *sigh* s x

I too feel the pain of hating to try on bras. It seems that once you've reached a DD size the bra manufacturers (all MEN, I am convinced) feel the need to make the thing as INDUSTRIAL as possible to not let the hooters become loose torpedos. With 6 hooks in the back! 6! Just like pants, I've simply had to loosen the criteria for what constitutes "fit" on bras. And then they get removed once I walk through the door at home. I can shoot them out the armhole of my shirt like a slingshot. I'm so sorry for your bra shopping pain.

I think my "love to shop gene" is hiding out with my "fashion sense gene". I hate shopping, and I have the fashion sense of a dead cat. I, unlike many people, am nearly flat-chested; I receive hand-me-downs from my little sister from time to time. She spares me the agony of going in to a store in order to pick out some boob-holding contraption amongst people shopping for even bigger boob-holding contraptions.

As one who has permanent dime sized black and blue marks on the inside of my biceps from the damn underwires I agree bras were the WORST thing to happen to women since Eve ate the apple. Some may argue chastity belts and corsets were worse, but since women were also allowed to hang around doing nothing and indulge in the vapors while wearing them I'll insist the modern bra is worse. Because now we have to DO shit like shovel snow and lug big bags of llama food and dig ditches whilst wearing our 'freedom enhancing' undergarments. Feh. I'll take a corset, bon-bons and chaise lounge anyday. ~LA

Let me say that wacoal bras from ebay are the way to go. But then I love me the underwires, because the boobs are a NIGHTMARE.

(Longtime reader, rarely comment.) If it's any consolation, Witty, a new bra is supposed to be a little snug in the band when you first buy it. If it's just a tad snug on the loosest hook, you're doing good. This way, when the elastic starts to break down from normal wear & tear and the bra stretches as they are wont to do, you have room to snug it back up and keep it fitting properly. You get a little more mileage out of your bras this way. And Scotvalkyrie, I feel your big-boobed pain. I'm an F-cup and cannot walk into a store to buy bras. It's catalogs and on-line ordering only for me. And the whole "waiting, trying on, sending back because it doesn't fit (as usual), waiting again" routine is very old and tiresome.

I'm missing the shopping gene too. I hate it. The rosie/sports bra made me choke, haha!

...try Lane Bryant...I actually like the sheer lace underwire. Lifts, separates, comes in fun colors, and does not stab me in the armpits or the sternum. Also, they have some non-wire ones that have some support but don't MUSH. (I don't have enough in the hooter department to be having them all mushed down, thankyouverymuch.)

I hate bra shopping, too. What a workout, though! All the on/off, in/out, back and forth to the dressing room -- because despite what the "get an expert bra fitting" advocates say, I insist that bra sizes differ from maker to maker and even from style to style by the same maker. So, when I find a bra that fits, doesn't hurt, the straps don't slip, etc. (based on a full day trial, not just in the dressing room), I go back and buy ALL of them.
